Postcards from Buster, a spin-off of the always popular Arthur TV and publishing franchise, will join the weekday PBS Kids lineup in fall 2004. During the 40 initial episodes, Postcards from Buster will follow Buster as he travels cross country to explore and learn about diverse cultures. Postcards from Buster will use a groundbreaking combination of music, narrative animation and documentary style live-action blended with the award-winning animation elements of Arthur — plus kid-based humor, great storytelling and a recurring cast of enjoyable, familiar characters.

In the program, Buster will be traveling with his Dad, an airplane pilot, as they jet the Latin rock group "Los Viajeros" on a tour. Each show will feature the live action video "postcards" that Buster created to document his adventures and experiences and send back home to Arthur and his friends in Elwood City. Buster will share the experience of meeting kids and families from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic, cultural and geographical backgrounds, as well as children with disabilities. Some of the locations and children visited in Season One are:
- Robert, from San Antonio, Texas, who gives Buster a lesson in real Mexican cooking
- Lauren and Nathan, from Knox, Indiana, who invite Buster to spend the day on their farm and join them as the brother and sister compete in the local County's Fair's pig competition and horse show
- Ezi, an 11-year old Palestinian boy who introduces Buster to his family, their traditions and the ins and outs of Manhattan, NY
- The Vang sisters, Diana, Caitlin and Rosie, from Madison, Wisconsin, where Buster attends the girls traditional dance competition and shares a barbeque that includes customary foods and Buster's favorite, hot dogs!
