New York, NY (June, 2006) It’s the 40th Anniversary of the classic Halloween special, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” which debuted on network television in 1966. Famous for Linus and Sally’s wait in the Pumpkin Patch for the coming of the Great Pumpkin and Snoopy’s television debut as the World War I Flying Ace, the special was written by Charles M. Schulz, with Bill Melendez directing and Lee Mendelson as Executive Producer. In 2005, ABC’s special annual telecast of “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” ranked No. 1 in its time period among Adults 18-49 (4.0/11), Adults 18-34 (3.6/12) and Kids 2-11 (6.4/22). “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” upped its 2004 performance by 5% among Adults 18-49 (4.0/11 vs. 3.8/11) and by 13% among Adults 25-54 (4.5/11 vs. 4.0/10).
