IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT LOVING FOOD; IT'S ABOUT THE CULTURE OF IT TOO... In addition to taking on the responsibilities for the world's most famous Aardvark, United Media recently partnered with fellow E.W. Scripps company, Food Network, on an all new licensing program. The initial stage of the multi-tiered licensing initiative will focus on the overall Food Network brand. Future programs will target specific opportunities to tie-in with highly popular network series including the hit show Unwrapped. Categories targeted include social expression, games, publishing, housewares and video.
ARE YOU READY TO SHINE? United Media has signed on to SHiNE. Using a combination of media partnerships and proprietary content, including a seven-year contract with MTV Fight for Your Rights, SHiNE sponsors celebrity music Mall Tours, after-school programs, college scholarships, teen initiated community project grants, and the popular www.shine.com web site. All together SHiNE reaches over eight million teens each month with its hip, edgy, relevant, and totally not-for-profit programming. SHiNE licensing partners will join major retailers supporting SHiNE to help raise funds that will channel the inspiration that empowers teen self-expression and encourages a greater respect for diversity.
HAPPINESS IS A NEW PEANUTS HOLIDAY SPECIAL This December, an all new PEANUTS Christmas special will air on the ABC network in addition to the classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas. I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!, the latest in a long lineup of popular specials based on the strip by Charles M. Schulz, is headed to primetime for holiday 2003. Partners are currently being sought for the September 2004 Paramount DVD and VHS release.
BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY FOR DILBERT In yet another heroic effort to help the average working man and woman, Scott Adams has unveiled his latest device from IGT, Dilbert's Wheelbert. The first-ever Dilbert slot machine was unleashed at the Las Vegas Gaming Expo September 17 where Scott was on-hand for local media. Dilbert's Wheelbert will roll-out to casinos nationwide beginning mid-January 04.

Featuring the familiar loving, caring, and sharing images from the popular lifestyle brand, consumers now can spread their own precious moments every time they purchase something. PEANUTS EXHIBIT KICKS OFF IN GERMANY The Bilderbuch Museum in Germany is hosting a PEANUTS themed exhibit now through the end of November. Featuring, illustrated panels, extensive historical information, original strips, a life size Snoopy doghouse, and a reading library for children, the exhibit is sure to be a hit for fans of all ages.
AND WHO IS THE WEASELIEST OF THEM ALL? This October, Scott Adams will hit the road to promote the paperback edition of Dilbert and the Way of Weasel, on sale October 21. Adams will also announce the second annual Weasel Poll allowing eager fans and foes to vote for the Weaseliest in a variety of categories. A Weasel himself, Adams has engineered a plot to get five cartoonists to do his work for him, the week of October 20.

Available in $10 denominations in all 5500 stores, the popular PEANUTS special will share billing with other holiday favorites, including Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and others.

In celebration of the October 2nd anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip, the Kinokuniya bookstore chain in Japan will host a promotion featuring a wide assortment of PEANUTS books and original products. Additionally, the Shinjuku store will host an exhibition outlining Hallmark's 40 year history with the Peanuts property. Kinokuniya is one of the largest and oldest bookstore chains in Japan.
