SNOOPY SELECTED FOR MACY’S NATIONWIDE PLUSH PROMOTION
This holiday season, Snoopy will serve as this year’s Macy’s Holiday Ambassador, helping Macy’s usher in the spirit of the season as a cute collectible plush toy in Macy’s first ever nationwide holiday plush promotion available at over 800 Macy’s locations. Snoopy, along with his pal Woodstock, will be dressed in a festive red hoodie and will be rocking to the latest holiday tunes with his accompanying miniature FM Radio player that can be detached for personal use. Snoopy fans can purchase the plush for $14.95 with any purchase of $35 or more. Just recently, Snoopy took to the Manhattan skies in the form of a brand new Flying Ace giant helium balloon in the 80th Anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
PRECIOUS BEGINNINGS
Beginning this fall, new moms will experience the joys of childbirth with Precious Moments and Enfamil. Reaching three million moms over the next year, Precious Moments will participate in Enfamil’s hospital diaper bag sampling program. Also this month, Precious Moments will launch an advertising campaign promoting its infant program in Lamaze and Lamaz Para Padres magazines that will run through March, 2007. The promotional campaign also includes sampling of infant products at Baby Fairs across six major U.S. hospitals.
PARTNERS LINE UP TO CELEBRATE A MILESTONE FOR DIRTY DANCING
As we near closer to the spring 2007 release of the special edition 20th anniversary DVD and soundtrack of the classic hit film Dirty Dancing, United Media’s lineup of licensing partners continues to build. In August, the apparel program launched at MAGIC to great success with Awake, a division of JEM sportswear, creating fashionable tees that capture scenes and popular one-liners from the movie. Next Craze, division of AME, is also on board to develop loungewear and underwear. Townley will release a line of health and beauty aids with a central focus on cosmetics, fragrances and bath & body products. Other items that will be available as part of the Dirty Dancing merchandise program include: posters, an on-line game, a direct mail program, key chains, pens and projectors.
DILBERT IS ON THE MOVE
This summer six Orange County Transportation Authority (California) buses donned wraps featuring everyone’s favorite workplace hero, Dilbert, as part of a new commuter line promotion. These wraps were also featured on bus shelter boards, brochures, and door hangers. On other fronts, the Dilbert USPS promotion has continued to build with the addition of 44 million business to business postcards, bringing the total number to 132 million! The new Dilbert reprint Try Rebooting Yourself from Andrews McMeel Publishing hits stores this month. This all new collection of Dilbert strips will feature a full page of stickers so that employees everywhere can outfit their cubicle. IRON CHEF AMERICA – A CUT ABOVE THE REST
Beginning this fall, Iron Chef America fans can buy cookware and cutlery product from their favorite Food Network show. Available for purchase on Foodnetwork.com, the launch was supported by an electronic newsletter sent to the Food Network Store’s database of fans.
WHAT’S OLD IS NEW FOR RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY Raggedy fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to cool new products featuring the 91 year old red-headed doll. Hip women’s tees featuring Raggedy Ann with retro sayings such as “Easy Rider” will be at Wal-Mart in time for the holidays. Building on its current line of dolls, Russ Berrie has launched the latest “Dance with Me Raggedy Ann” doll, as well as Raggedy Ann & Andy hand puppets. BUILDING A MARY ENGELBREIT LIBRARY
Children love Mary! Since its 2002 inception, the Mary Engelbreit children’s publishing program has garnered sales of 1.5 million units. Based on this success, three new Mother Goose themed board books will be released in the spring and a companion book to Mary Engelbreit’s Mother Goose titled Nursery Tales is scheduled for fall ‘07. Look for additional Mary Engelbreit titles in stores throughout 2007 and beyond.

CHINA: FOOD AND FASHION WITH CHARLIE BROWN & SNOOPY
On the heels of the most recent launch of Charlie Brown Cafés in Hong Kong, a fourth grand opening took place in September on Cameron Road, one of the city’s busiest shopping districts. The restaurant, which had people lining up to get in, received a great deal of press from leading papers such as the South China Morning Post. Also during the month, the Snoopy China 2006 Fashion Show, celebrating the Year of the Beagle and featuring products from all categories, was held at the Shangri-La hotel in Beijing. The event featured some of China’s top models and was covered by over 200 media outlets.
DOGS FOR THE DISABLED RECEIVE HELP FROM SNOOPY AND FRIENDS
A certain extroverted beagle known to millions of people for his antics, along with his friends Charlie Brown and Woodstock, are helping the pioneering charity Dogs for the Disabled continue its inspirational work in the United Kingdom. Peanuts fans will now be able to collect three adorable designs of Snoopy in the form of a cuddly soft-toy key ring, with proceeds going directly to Dogs for the Disabled. Manufactured by Big Badge, each key ring has been made to reflect Snoopy’s best loved characteristics as depicted in the Peanuts comic strip.
VINTAGE PEANUTS GOES HIGH END – DOWN UNDER
New Australian licensee Austin Group has signed on to create Vintage Peanuts tees for high end and specialty stores. The trendy tees, featuring creative interpretative art, appeal to the young and fashion forward.
PEANUTS GAINS MOMENTUM IN NEW TERRITORIES
As the Eastern and Central European and Middle Eastern markets build on a global level, Peanuts has secured a strong foothold in these regions with a significant portfolio of partners. Ninety-Nine Inc. recently signed on in the Czech Republic and the Middle East for stationery, bags and giftware. In Poland, Duman Polska will launch sleepwear, and in Hungary, Mezzo Piano is creating t-shirts and bags. In Greece, new partner Aikaterini Kostagianni (SALITA) is due to release its swimwear collection next spring, and Kokkonis will deliver a baby and nursery accessory and furniture line.
LATIN AMERICA LOVES PEANUTS
With over 85 licensees in Latin America, Peanuts continues to maintain strength in the region. New partners in Brazil include Lider Industria for playing “go-go” balls, Publibook for publishing, and Zippy for domestics. In Mexico, Corporacion Impresora will create stationery, and in Chile, Sociedad Comercial will launch an apparel line for teens. Rhein is also on board for agenda/day planners in Chile.
SNOOPY TOWN MINI GROWS BIGGER IN JAPAN
In early October, the latest Snoopy Town Mini store opened at “Urban Dock Toyosu”, a new shopping mall in the waterfront area of Tokyo. The new store is the third “Mini” to open in Japan, bringing the total number of Snoopy Town retail outlets to thirteen nationwide.
